Prior to a third party performing a penetration test of their internal and external network, the customer requested Verge perform an assessment of their existing firewalls to minimize audit findings by proactively identifying gaps in their security posture. Verge reviewed all policies, rules and the customer's architecture to identify potential issues as well as corrective actions prior to the formal test.

Marketing firms by their very nature tend to collect a lot of data requiring significant IT resources to store, analyze and manage access to that information. A large marketing firm had been using a native OS auditing tool to address these requirements. Verge suggested the customer deploy the Varonis data classification framework as a different approach to meeting their business requirements. A proof of concept quickly validated their requirements were met. As a bonus, the Varonis solution also identified stale and inactive data the customer chose to purge resulting in reclaimed storage space on the customer’s NAS system which reduced their storage expenses.

The customer was required to regularly monitor their compliance with HIPAA regulations and to remediate any findings. Rather than conduct labor intensive traditional audits, Verge recommended they implement Varonis software to provide visibility into file sharing, data access and utilization.

With global offices, mobile employees and visitors, this customer needed an elegant solution to centrally manage employees and guest visitor access to both wired and wireless network resources. Verge recommended Aruba Networks as it met their feature rich and easy to use requirements but also detects seamlessly company or individual owned devices and then applies the appropriate level of control when granting access to the network.

Large public utility organization implementing Microsoft 2010 desired a front end load balancer for optimization. In comparison to other solutions, the customer found A10's AX-3030 Load Balancer was: (1) simple to manage (2) offered solid-state drives for higher performance sessions (3) better MTBF averages (4) affordable

The college's IT Department needed network visability and control over peer-to-peer networking activties that were utilizing a significant amount of the college's bandwidth. Verge peformed a proof-of-concept evaluation of Blue Coat's packet shaper to demonstrate the tool would identify the types of data transfered and to enable the IT Department to set appropriate bandwidth limitations to prohibit transfer of unlicensed copyrightable material and other data.

Large Northern California K-12 School District’s current firewalls did not provide adequate visibility or protection against zero day attacks or malware. The school district conducted product evaluations to put leading IPS solutions through rigorous testing but with mixed results. Verge recommended Palo Alto Network’s PA-5050 to provide application, application control and threat prevention in lieu of a stand-alone IPS. The district found that the PA-5050 provided better visibility and control over HTML network inbound and outbound traffic previously missed by the other IPS appliances and NAT firewalls.

A Northern California Casino needed to augment it existing security posture to address potential issues associated with employees accessing legitimate but compromised websites. The IT Department conducted product evaluations and selected Verge's recommended FireEye solution based upon performance and price.

The credit union needed to deploy a new SAN solution for its corporate HQ and disaster recovery site. Its current SAN vendor required hardware refresh every 3-5 years thus the credit union was open to more cost-effective solutions. Additionally, the credit union wanted a solution that was more efficient in how it stored and managed applications. Verge successfully demonstrated that Dell’s Compellent SAN solution had (1) Fluid Data Architecture to provide block level intelligence for active data management and protection; (2) Persistent Hardware Platform does not require frequent hardware upgrades or updates; (3) Simple and User-Friendly Interfaces streamline network storage management with a single pane of glass; and (4) Intelligent Software automatically optimizes utilization, migrates data and protects against downtime and disaster.

Our customer had an objective to build a new virtualized server infrastructure and iSSCi SAN to run their critical business applications such as Microsoft Exchange and SQL. Their key requirements included a tiered SSDI, SATA, deduplication and data compression, plus a solution that offered simple day-to-day administration of the SAN. Verge recommended Nimble Storage’s CS-220 solution as it met their criteria plus provided snapshot and optimized replication technology as an added bonus.
